“SPT Responds to Call for Emergency Ship to Ship Transfer “

On Monday, February 24^th, 2009 the SPT Crusader performed an emergency lightering operation with the Yasa Golden Dardanelles. The Yasa Golden Dardanelles had grounded 28 miles from Galveston on Friday, February 20^th.

SPT Mooring Master Captain Dave Edwards directed the operation with the Captain of the SPT Crusader, Captain H. P. DeVitre. The SPT Crusader was brought alongside the Yasa Golden Dardanelles in the early afternoon. By early evening 83,000 bbls of fuel oil had been transferred from the Yasa Golden Dardanelles to the SPT Crusader. The SPT Crusader separated and departed the scene a couple hours later. The operation was completed without injury to personnel, no spillage of oil to the environment and no damage to the vessels. The SPT Crusader discharged the fuel oil in Houston on Wednesday, February 25^th.

SPT Inc. participated in the unified command responding to the incident alongside the USCG, other federal and state agencies having an interest, representatives of the QI and Titan Marine.
